| The goal of the Colorado Water Protection Project is to increase public awareness in Colorado about the causes of and solutions to urban polluted runoff resulting from household activities. The Colorado Water Protection Project, which began in 1997, is a public education effort of the League of Women Voters of Colorado Education Fund. It has been funded by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and other corporate and agency donors. The League of Women Voters won the Hall of Fame Award in October 2001 for its work preventing nonpoint source pollution and polluted runoff in Colorado.
